Zokin

A zokin (雑巾) is a cleaning rag traditionally made by folding and stitching together layers of old cloth, repurposed from worn-out kimono, furoshiki (wrapping cloth), or futon covers. This practice of giving fabric a second life reflects mottainai (もったいない), the Japanese ethos of not letting anything go to waste.
