Purple Kōchi-Style Lidded Bowl

$280.00

A striking lidded bowl in the kōchi (交趾) tradition, featuring a rich aubergine-purple glaze as its ground. Bold relief-molded yellow flowers — likely yamabuki (kerria) — trail across both the lid and bowl, connected by sinuous green-glazed stems and leaves. The raised decoration gives the piece a lively, tactile quality, while the deep purple ground lends it a quiet dignity.

The interior is finished in a smooth, dark glaze with a subtle textured surface. The lid sits neatly within the bowl's rim, topped with a small circular knob.

Accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako) with hand-brushed inscription identifying the piece.

Condition: Good antique condition with minor signs of age consistent with use and handling.
